CureMD Achieves 5010 Compliance

CureMD’s system is now compliant with the Federal Regulations, which come into effect as of January, 2012 making it the first official announcement of ASC X12 Version 5010 compliance. CureMD’s customer-base can start benefiting as soon as the clearing houses/payers announce acceptance of production transactions.

Compliant transactions include Health Care Claim Professional (837P), Health Care Claim Institutional (837I), Health Care Claim Payment/Advice (835), Claim Status Request and Response (276/277), Eligibility Benefits Inquiry and Response (270/271) and Request for Review and Response (278).

On January 1, 2012, standards for electronic health care transactions change from Version 4010/4010A1 to Version 5010. Unlike the current Version 4010/4010A1, Version 5010 accommodates the ICD-10 codes, and must be in place first before the changeover to ICD-10. Providers not using 5010 as of January 1, 2012 will experience serious delays in claim reimbursement, while starting 5010 ahead of time will mean more time to adjust, train and benefit from this change.
