CureMD’s Advanced Drug Interaction Alert System Enhances Patient Safety

CureMD has further enhanced its platform to increase patient safety and physician efficiency with the implementation of advanced drug interaction alerts. This innovative addition to the CureMD Electronic Medical Record application provides diagnosis based checks and alerts for over 44,000 medications.

Studies have demonstrated how drug interactions lead to higher patient morbidity. Recognition and detection of drug interactions by physicians is a daunting task since they are generally overwhelmed by the ever increasing number of patients and the huge amount of information linked to drug interactions. Poor recognition of drug interactions also has enormous impact on patient care and may even lead to increased malpractice claims.

Availability of the drug interaction alert system enriches the CureMD application's prescribing capabilities. It is a valuable decision support tool to enhance the delivery of quality care. Prescribed medication is cross checked against other drugs, allergies, side effects, contraindications and drug-disease interactions stored in a huge knowledge base. Warnings are displayed to the user in case of potential allergic reaction or harmful drug interaction.

The addition of “Advanced Drug Interaction Alert System” to the CureMD Electronic Health Records system will dramatically reduce medication errors, improve patient care, lead to greater efficiency and make doctors' lives easier.
